Hello, and welcome to the new WaPo Labs blog!
Here at Labs headquarters, where we develop and test new news products, our offices are filled with rousing discussions, both audible and virtual.
Our diverse team, comprised of software engineers, data analysts, editors, product managers, and designers based in Washington, San Francisco, and points across the globe, strives to experiment and innovate in the evolving landscape of digital journalism. We’re constantly debating the merits of the latest Java applet, how best to design a splash page, and what the proliferation of social media platforms means for the future of news.
But why keep these conversations confined to conference rooms and Google+ circles?
We’re launching this blog in the hope that we can share our ideas not only with each other, but with you — and that you can share your thoughts with us. The Labs blog will serve as a forum to discuss the latest developments in the tech community, to showcase our team’s products and experiments, and to serve as a central hub of information about upcoming meetups, conferences, and events.
Feel free to contact us with comments, questions, ideas for posts, and more – we’d love to hear from you: editor@wapolabs.com.
We hope that you’ll check back often to see who’s talking about what at WaPo Labs!
