Call of Duty Announces When the Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Reveal Will Happen

Highlights

  • Fans of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 can look forward to the reveal of the game’s multiplayer on October 3, increasing anticipation for the upcoming release.
  • The multiplayer trailer will also give players a look at the remastered maps from Modern Warfare 2, adding further excitement to the game’s launch.
  • In addition to the multiplayer modes, players can expect changes to the Gunsmith tool, including the ability to convert weapons into different types using “Aftermarket parts.”

Sledgehammer Games has confirmed players will get their first look at the up-and-coming multiplayer modes for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on October 3. Primarily developed by Sledgehammer with help from both Infinity Ward and Treyarch, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is the direct sequel to last year’s Modern Warfare 2 and sees players rejoin Task Force 141 as they hunt down the criminal Vladimir Makarov.

Sledgehammer and Activision have been drip-feeding information surrounding the latest entry in the long-running shooter franchise since it was officially announced in September. Fans have been excited since the popular Zombies mode will be returning in Modern Warfare 3 in a new open-world format when the game releases on November 10. In addition, players are still waiting to get a glimpse of the shooter’s main selling point – the multiplayer modes.

Gamers won’t have to wait long to see the multiplayer modes in Modern Warfare 3, however, as a trailer will be released on October 3. The announcement was posted across the official Call of Duty social channels with an expected release time of 7 AM PT / 10 AM EST. The post only confirms the date and time of the reveal trailer, with a direct link to the game’s YouTube channel.

Fans are already excited for Modern Warfare 3 and the trailer releasing at 7 AM PT on October 3 is set to push the anticipation further. That is in part due to Sledgehammer confirming that 16 remastered maps from 2009’s Modern Warfare 2will be available at launch. The video will be the first look at these reworked maps some 14 years after they first debuted during the PS3/Xbox 360 era.

The news comes as a somewhat surprise for fans as the developers also announced the changes to the Gunsmith tool in Modern Warfare 3 earlier on October 2. The main change is that players will now be able to utilize “Aftermarket parts” to convert weapons into a different type completely.

It is set to be a busy week for the Call of Duty franchise. Season 6 of Call of Duty: Warzone is live, with the comic book antihero Spawn taking center stage, and October 5 will see the return of Activision’s Call of Duty: Next event. Although there are a few details yet to be unveiled, the excitement from fans surrounding Modern Warfare 3 is growing ahead of the November 10 release date and with the latest trailer releasing in a few hours, it seems the momentum is set to continue.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launches on November 10 for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
