Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is offering players of its open beta a free skin for completing all 30 levels. For the first time ever, two Modern Warfare titles are being released in back to back years, with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 following up last year’s Modern Warfare 2, the sequel to 2019’s Modern Warfare reboot.
As with any Call of Duty release of the past, the beta is a great opportunity for fans to get their hands on a portion of the new game’s multiplayer suite early, and earn some rewards while doing so. Modern Warfare 3‘s open beta dates are split into four windows throughout October in the ramp-up to the game’s full release on November 10. The first weekend is exclusive to PlayStation players and gives those who pre-ordered Modern Warfare 3 on the platform early access from October 6-7. Then, the beta opens up for everybody else on PlayStation, and will run from the 8th to the 10th. Weekend two gets Xbox and PC players involved, with early access running from October 12-13, and October 14-16 for everybody else.

On Twitter, CharlieIntel pointed toward the grand prize of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3‘s open beta, a unique operator skin called Tester. Fittingly, the skin is a red crash test dummy kitted out with military gear and is for a multiplayer operator named Jabber, who is presumably a new operator yet to be revealed in Modern Warfare 3. Beta players will have to reach level 30 to unlock the Jabber Tester skin, which means it’ll only be available during the second weekend, as the first weekend is capped at level 20.

It’s important to note that Jabber’s Tester skin will only be available to use in Modern Warfare 3 and in Warzone once they integrate. Those who unlock the skin during the beta will have to wait a few weeks until the game’s full launch to use it again. There’s a bit of concern for players on Xbox and PC who didn’t pre-order to gain early access to the beta, as those players will only have three days, from October 14-16 to grind 30 levels for the Tester skin. Conversely, players on PlayStation will have the first weekend to hit level 20, and then will only need to grind ten levels for the skin during the second weekend.
It’ll be interesting to see whether this Jabber Tester skin will become available once again in Modern Warfare 3 for players who missed out on the beta or weren’t quick enough to hit level 30. Though considering the skin’s emphasis on testing, this seems unlikely. As for this mysterious new multiplayer operator Jabber, fans will have to wait until Modern Warfare 3‘s full release to learn more about them.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on November 10.
