Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies Lets Players Get an Awesome Skin, But There’s a Catch

Highlights

  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies introduces a cool Bone Collector skin, but players must complete all missions, which may take around 35 hours.
  • Modern Call of Duty games usually offer basic recolor skins for free, making the inclusion of the high-quality Bone Collector skin a pleasant surprise.
  • Completing the missions in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies not only unlocks the Bone Collector skin but also reveals story missions with cutscenes and boss fights for an exciting gameplay experience.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies allows players to unlock a neat skin that fans would expect to see within the in-game marketplace. However, those that want to become the Bone Collector in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies will have to be prepared to spend dozens of hours completing missions.

Modern Call of Duty games have offered a decent number of skins for players to get for free, as they are usually able to unlock Operators by playing Call of Duty’s campaigns or completing challenges, with additional challenges providing cosmetics for those Operators. However, though there are exceptions, like Call of Duty: Vanguard’s excellent Operator skin unlocks, usually these outfits are just basic recolors for the game’s cast of characters. Skins as nice as Modern Warfare 3’s Bone Collector are almost always exclusive to paid bundles, making its inclusion in the game a welcome surprise.

The Bone Collector cosmetic is for the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Operator Ripper, and it was shown off in an image on Reddit by a user known as Guar2. The outfit completely transforms Ripper from a regular-looking soldier in a bulletproof vest and hat to what is essentially the grim reaper. Ripper dons skulls for shoulder pads as well as a collection of skulls on his belt, along with a raggedy hood. The standout features of the skin are the zombified arms like what the Zombie Ghost skin has, as well as Ripper’s head being replaced by a skull with glowing red eyes.

As indicated by the post’s title, players need to complete every single mission currently available in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies for this skin. These missions function just like those in Call of Duty: Warzone’s DMZ mode, with players dropping into Urzikstan and doing things like looting chests or destroying mercenary convoys. With some of these missions requiring a bit of luck and RNG, while also escalating in difficulty as players progress through each act, the estimated amount of time required to finish all three acts is 35 hours.

35 hours is currently just an estimate, as that is how long it has taken CoD Zombies content creators like MrRoflWaffles to finish the three acts. In the coming weeks, strategies will likely be figured out that allow players to have an easier time finishing MW3‘s Zombies missions, though there is also a chance that the average player will need even more than 35 hours to complete the three acts.

While this may seem like a long grind – and for some players will be too much – those who care about the story of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Zombies will likely be trying to finish all the missions anyway. At the end of each act, players will get to play through a proper story mission with cutscenes and boss fights like the Aether Worm, so there will be some exciting moments on the way to acquiring Bone Collector.
