One Elden Ring player found themselves in an unexpectedly fortunate situation during a challenging boss encounter, as they found an unlikely ally in the form of a tree. Elden Ring is well-known for being a difficult video game that pushes players to their limits, as sharp reflexes and peculiar tactics are almost mandatory if one wants to navigate its dangerous but beautiful world successfully. That being said, sometimes a stroke of unforeseen luck is all it takes to drastically alter the direction of a formidable battle.
Elden Ring is home to numerous grueling boss battles that test players’ abilities. While players are supposed to efficiently optimize their builds and count on their own gaming skills in order to get past them, frequent deaths are still common, with gamers memorizing their enemies’ attack patterns to stand a better chance. When that is not enough, they can also rely on NPC summons, or the help of other players. Sometimes, one might even decide to take the easy way out, by relying on clever cheese methods that can easily dismantle bosses.

A Reddit user named Zereeni posted an interesting clip of their Elden Ring character as they fight the powerful Crucible Knight in the Stormhill Evergaol. While it is an optional fight, the threatening armored warrior is considered to be a tough enemy for many adventurers. In the video, the Crucible Knight can be seen using his Flying Dive attack in order to leap toward the player, however, a weird glitch made the Knight get stuck in a nearby tree, where he became easy pickings for Zereeni. This unexpected outcome perfectly highlights the game’s unpredictable nature, where even the most fearsome confrontations may sometimes deliver some unintentionally hilarious moments.
While Elden Ring won the Game of the Year title at the 2022 Game Awards, the open-world FromSoftware game has still managed to remain insanely popular in 2023, with more than 20 million units being sold so far. Having said that, the fun is not over yet for Elden Ring enthusiasts, as Shadow of the Erdtree, an upcoming expansion for the title, is currently in development.
While not many details are known about Elden Ring’s much-anticipated expansion, rumors are circulating online that Shadow of the Erdtree will be showcased at the upcoming Game Awards event this December. Until then, soulslike fans might enjoy revisiting the unforgiving encounters found in the Elden Ring world.
Elden Ring is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
