Some fans looking forward to the long-awaited debut of Silent Hill: Ascension are feeling a little left out now that the game’s release date and time have been revealed. First announced a year ago during the Silent Hill Transmission showcase, when a number of upcoming projects in the franchise were confirmed to be in development, Silent Hill: Ascension will be an interactive experience whose story will be decided by input from the audience.
The narrative approach of Silent Hill: Ascension is expected to be somewhat like Until Dawn or some Telltale games. The difference with the upcoming Silent Hill interactive game is that the choices made by viewers will permanently impact the series’ canon. It’s a somewhat unique and exciting prospect that has many fans of the franchise looking forward to Ascension’s launch.

Aptly, Silent Hill: Ascension will release on October 31 at 6 PM PST, and pre-registrations for the mobile version have already been open for a while. The problem lies in the fact that 6 PM PST falls at 2 AM in the UK and even later for players in other countries. Given that Halloween also falls on a Tuesday, this means that many people who were eager to participate in the interactive game are going to be asleep when it launches and miss out on the flurry of excitement when it first goes live.
Unfortunately, because of Silent Hill: Ascension’s live multiplayer element, many people would’ve felt left out no matter what time it launched. In response to this understandable concern, Executive Producer Jacob Navok has taken to Twitter to clarify things and reassure fans. All choices will be made available to everybody at least 24 hours in advance, and really important choices will be available even longer than that. While there will be some elements that are only accessible during the livestream, any decision that affects the story of Silent Hill: Ascension will be available to everybody.
Silent Hill: Ascension will play out like a TV show, streaming live over the course of six months, but VODs will also be available for later viewing by those who couldn’t catch the live show. Once the series starts, new scenes that progress the story will be aired every day at 6 PM PST, incorporating the decisions made by viewers in the previous 24 hours. These daily scenes will be combined into a weekly episode, and Navok emphasizes that even the developers don’t know how the show will play out.
Silent Hill: Ascention launches October 31 at 6 PM PT on Mobile and PC.
