Sega has released the PC specifications needed to play the upcoming Sonic Superstars, along with the confirmation of an online cross-play feature. Sonic Superstars is only a couple of weeks away from launching this month, and takes the blue hedgehog and his friends on a new 2D platforming adventure akin to the franchise’s Sega Genesis days. Sonic Superstars also comes with the addition of four player local co-op, along with an online PvP battle mode with up to eight players.
Sonic Superstars was announced to be releasing on all major consoles and platforms, which includes Xbox, PC, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch. All versions of the game will play the same according to the developers, meaning gamers can play Sonic Superstars at 60 FPS on all platforms, which includes the Nintendo Switch version. With only a few weeks left before the game’s official launch, the requirements for the PC version of the game have also been released, along with confirming an important feature for the aforementioned PvP battle mode, cross-play.

These requirements for Sonic Superstars were listed on the game’s Steam page, which includes the minimum and recommended specs for the most enjoyable experience. According to this page, it will require an Intel Core i5-2300 or AMD FX-4350 processor, along with at least 6 GB of RAM. The recommended processors listed include either an Intel Core i5-3470 or AMD FX-6300, with the same RAM requirement. PC gamers interested in the game will need at least 20 GB of available space for their system. The additional notes list how the game will play at 60 FPS, with the lowest being at 720p and 1080p at its recommended.

The Steam page for the game also lists a Cross-Platform multiplayer feature, which applies to Sonic Superstars‘ online PvP battle mode. While the scope of this Cross-Platform feature hasn’t been fully disclosed, it’s possible that fans can play against other fans in the game’s battle mode regardless of the system that they own the game on. It could also possibly be describing the ability for PC players to compete with one another regardless if they had bought the game through Steam or the Epic Games Store.
The PC requirements for this game are rather light all things considered, which may not be surprising to some gamers. Early impressions of Sonic Superstars have been widely positive so far, with the co-op mechanics and platforming being praised. It’s been a greatly anticipated release since its surprise reveal earlier this Summer, with many excited to play as the classic characters, along with seeing returning and new characters like Fang the Hunter and Trip the Sungazer.
