Sony has just revealed its newest PlayStation 5 console bundle, with this one centered around the upcoming Marvel’s Spider-Man 2. Special edition consoles and bundles are nothing new in the world of gaming, with Sony offering up enticing package deals for blockbuster first-party games like God of War Ragnarok and Horizon Forbidden West. There have also been PS5 bundles for third-party games, with more recent examples including this summer’s Final Fantasy 16. For players buying a PlayStation 5 console for the first time, these bundles can be a great way to start their gaming libraries with one of the biggest titles Sony’s latest system has to offer.

This time, the high-flying duo of Peter Parker and Miles Morales will face off against dangerous new foes like Venom and Kraven the Hunter in new locations like Queens, Brooklyn, and Coney Island.

With the launch of Spider-Man 2 only a few weeks away, Sony and Insomniac are ramping up their promotion of the upcoming adventure with special deals and giveaways, such as a newly announced PlayStation 5 console/game bundle. According to the official PlayStation Twitter account, this bundle will hit store shelves on October 20 and feature a standard white PlayStation 5 console, a DualSense controller, and a digital copy of the regular edition of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
This isn’t the first Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 PlayStation 5 offered by Sony. A special-edition Spider-Man 2 PS5 console was made available to order over the summer, which included a custom console and controller design inspired by Peter Parker’s new Symbiote costume. A special Spider-Man 2 Collector’s Edition was offered as well, with the 19-inch Venom statue packaged with it even spawning an innuendo-fueled meme in the build-up to Spider-Man 2’s release. Unsurprisingly, both these items sold out almost immediately after being available to purchase online.
The latest Spider-Man 2 PlayStation 5 bundle is more basic than these previous offerings, consisting of just the game and a regular white PS5 console and controller. While this might seem disappointing to some in the wake of the more extravagant Spider-Man 2 Collector’s Edition, it’s still a good offer for someone still looking to buy a PlayStation 5 and dive headfirst into Insomniac’s next open-world superhero blockbuster as soon as it launches later this month.
