To commemorate the recent drop of Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Ubisoft France has announced a giveaway for a new Xbox Series X console themed around the game. It’s far from the first piece of interesting tie-in merchandise Assassin’s Creed Mirage has received.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is the thirteenth and latest main installment in the popular Assassin’s Creed series, which is noted as Ubisoft’s bestselling IP of all time. Mirage differentiates itself from recent entries by harkening back to the series’ roots, discarding the RPG elements and focusing on stealth-based gameplay and linear storytelling. Since release, it’s gone on to become one of the lowest-rated Assassin’s Creed titles despite garnering generally positive critical reception, though it’s possible that its Metacritic score might raise later on as more reviews come in.

As announced by the French Ubisoft Twitter account, a special Xbox Series X console and controller themed around Assassin’s Creed Mirage will be handed out through a giveaway. The exterior was designed by a French pop artist who goes by Oskunk, and depicts protagonist Basim Ibn Ishaq posing against a black and blue patterned background, alongside artwork of some of the buildings in 9th-century Baghdad, the game’s setting. The controller has the same patterns, but also depicts a wave of sand along the bottom half.
The Twitter thread provided a link to a tweet from the official French Assassin’s Creed account, where it was explained that the console can be won by simply liking and retweeting the post, while also following the account alongside the French Xbox account. Reportedly, this console will also come bundled with Assassin’s Creed Mirage‘s Deluxe Edition. Meanwhile, the controller can be won by doing the same things on the French Xbox and Assassin’s Creed Instagram accounts, in addition to commenting on their posts.
Special consoles are a means to promote the launch of highly anticipated titles, not just to console collectors but also to potential fans who find the game interesting. This Assassin’s Creed Mirage Xbox console is just the latest example.
Assassin’s Creed Mirage is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, with an iOS version due sometime in 2024.
